North Haven, CT (September 21, 2021) - Precision Combustion, Inc. (PCI) today congratulates two employees, Dr. Codruta Zoican-Loebick and Dr. Marie Zuckerman, Patent Agent, for their recognition as finalists in this year’s Connecticut Women of Innovation® competition. These awards recognize and celebrate Connecticut women for their achievements in STEM.
PCI also congratulates the other 34 Connecticut women selected as 2021 Women of Innovation. They all have achieved remarkable accomplishments in their lives to date, and they serve as examples for others to also find worthwhile careers in America’s STEM fields. The finalists were selected based upon their performance as innovators, role models and leaders in science and technology, and they are all winners.
Dr. Codruta Zoican-Loebick was named as one of five finalists in the Research Innovation and Leadership category, for her innovative breakthrough work at PCI. She received her PhD in Chemical Engineering from Yale. Since joining PCI in 2012, she has led the company into an entirely new sector of designer nanomaterials and regenerable high selectivity adsorption for gas and liquid purification, now expanding in multiple directions including as a promising potential solution for economically capturing CO2 from the air and power plant exhaust. She has been granted five U.S. patents and has 8 patents pending.
Dr. Marie Zuckerman was named as one of five finalists in the Small/Medium Business Innovation and Leadership category, for her lifetime of work in technology innovation starting with a Chemistry degree from Cornell, then a PhD in Physical Chemistry from Penn, then a post-doc at Princeton (among its first women), then teaching at Columbia. Later, she worked for Upjohn, and then started her second career as a patent agent (both for Dow as an independent patent agent). After retiring from Dow, she has been with PCI since 2009 successfully working to build PCI’s intellectual properties.
