North Haven, CT (October 15, 2021) - Precision Combustion, Inc. (PCI) today congratulates PCI’s Dr. Marie Zuckerman for her recognition as Winner in the Small/Medium Business Innovation and Leadership category in this year’s Connecticut Women of Innovation® celebration held last night in a virtual event.
PCI also congratulates the other 35 Connecticut women selected as 2021 Women of Innovation finalists across ten categories (and including PCI’s Dr. Codruta Zoican-Loebick in the category of Research Innovation and Leadership). They all have achieved extraordinary accomplishments in their lives to date, and they serve as examples for others to also find meaningful careers in America’s STEM fields. The finalists were selected based upon their performance as innovators, role models and leaders in science and technology.
Dr. Marie Zuckerman was named Winner in the Small/Medium Business Innovation and Leadership category, for her career in technology innovation now spanning 60 years. Marie graduated with a Chemistry degree from Cornell, then a PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania, then a postdoctoral research position at Princeton (among its first women), then teaching at Columbia. Later, she worked for the Upjohn Company, and then started her second career as a patent agent (both for Dow and as an independent patent agent). After retiring from Dow, she joined PCI in 2009 and has since successfully worked to build PCI’s intellectual properties.

She really has been a woman of innovation throughout her life, and we’re happy for her recognition as a Category Winner in the Small/Medium Business Innovation and Leadership category.”
Burns added, “We also strongly support Connecticut’s Women of Innovation program and its role in recognizing Connecticut women who are prime leaders of and contributors to Connecticut’s technology excellence. We should always look to recognize and celebrate those among us who work hard to make our lives better. The 17th Annual Women of Innovation Awards was held virtually on October 14, 2021 and showcased amazing women finalists across a broad range of disciplines and professions.
